Any product that properly removes hair from the root causes the hair follicle to become weaker. This results in finer and sparser growth over time. Neither regular standard waxes nor sugaring will offer longer lasting results. As long as the hair is properly removed from the root, the results are the same. We will not make a false claim that this is permanent – especially in hormonal areas such as the lip and chin. If you want a more guaranteed form of permanent hair removal, we suggest laser hair removal.

Yes. SE Waxing Studio only utilizes all natural, vegetable based waxes from one of the top three international wax suppliers. There are some inferior products out there that can really hurt if you’re not careful. A good quality wax is made from a variety of ingredients that soothe the skin and reduce inflammation. There’s also a difference between waxes that can be pulled off with a strip and ones that require no strip and are pulled off on their own. Some claim to use a “non–wax” product that is painless. Please be advised that any product that properly pulls hair from the root can and should cause some discomfort. Otherwise you’re not receiving a good hair removal service! Whether a product is made from beeswax, olive oil, soybeans, sugar or some other ingredient, if it is pulled off in a strip then it is considered “waxing.” The concept is the same and we recommend finding a wax and method that works with your skin type and comfort level.

Technique is also very important. I’ve seen very skilled estheticians use an inferior wax and have good results. Find an esthetician that is experienced.

Waxing is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the hair follicle. Warm wax is applied to the skin and enters the hair follicle allowing the hair to be pulled from the root. The wax is either removed with a cotton strip or it hardens and is removed by hand. Because the entire hair is removed, skin is left very smooth.

Your hair needs to be 1/4” long or basically the length of a grain of rice. This takes the average person one to two weeks of growth. After the first wax, do not shave again! As you continue to wax, your hair will grow in finer and sparser. The “cactus” feel you have before your first wax will not exist with continued waxing, making it easier to grow out between services.

A Classic Bikini line is removed up to the panty line. An Itsy Bitsy Bikini is farther in than a Classic Bikini and a Brazilian is where all the hair is removed front to back or a very small strip is left behind. Please tell our receptionist when you schedule your appointment which type of bikini wax you prefer. Brazilian Bikini waxing requires more scheduled time.

During the treatment you can leave your undies on or off. Upon request we can provide you an optional disposable panty for any type of bikini service.

Wrinkling of the SKIN occurs because of a breakdown deep within skin tissue. This breakdown is usually caused by excessive sun damage, skin dehydration, cigarette smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and hereditary factors. Waxing does not cause a breakdown of skin tissue, and therefore will not cause wrinkling.

As long as it does not contradict what your doctor has told you, we recommend taking ibuprofen at least 20 minutes before your waxing service. If you are a female guest, schedule your waxing service the first two weeks after your cycle since your sensitivity level is less during this time. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these are stimulants. Pregnancy also increases sensitivity.

There can be several reasons for this. People often think they’ve been burned, when in fact is more often skin lifting. If you are using skin products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic or alpha hydroxy acids of any kind these can cause the skin to lift while waxing. Prescription medications such as antibiotics, Accutane, Retin–A thin the skin and can cause lifting. The more inferior the wax, the greater chance of skin lifting. If you are unsure of any creams or prescriptions you are using, ask your esthetician. There are precautions that can be taken!

We recommend waxing a month before your scheduled trip or event and then again two days prior. This will give your skin time to calm down, see how it initially reacts and to receive the best results possible.

No, in fact waxing usually causes the opposite reaction. Waxing removes hair by the root and will often cause hair to grow in finer and sparser with continued services. Keep in mind that women lose an average of 1% of estrogen each year so hormonal areas, such as lip and chin, will continue to grow hair and darken the older we get.
